<p>Debian GIS er en <q><a href="../">Debian Pure Blend</a></q> med det formål at
udvikle Debian til at være den bedste distribution for <strong>Geographical
Information System</strong>-applikationer og -brugere.</p>
<p>En hel del GIS-relateret software og biblioteker (fx GRASS GIS, GDAL og
PROJ.4), er allerede til stede i Debian.</p>
<p>Takket være Debian GIS-holdets arbejde, har vi i øjeblikket mange
interessante GIS-pakker i Debians hovedarkiver. Andre programmer er godt på vej
til at blive optaget i arkivet.</p>
<p>De Debian-kildekodepakker, som Debian GIS-holdet vedligeholder, anvendes også
i arbejdet med at understøtte aktuel GIS-software i Debian-derivativer som
<a href="https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGIS">UbuntuGIS</a>, der leverer
tilbageførte GIS-pakker i Ubuntu, og <a href="http://live.osgeo.org/">\
OSGeo-Live</a> til deres Ubuntu-baserede distribution.</p>
